A Very Merry Airquee Christmas!

We're having quite a relaxing Friday so far in the office. All the biscuits and sweets that were given to us at the start of the week have been demolished in a matter of days - thankfully Rita is a kind soul and put some on the desks of those who weren't in the office!

In contrast it's been incredibly busy in the factory and the warehouse - but when are they not busy?! The factory will be taking a well-earnt break from today until the 6th January.

The warehouse has been flat out with dispatch and repairs, making sure that everyone gets their inflatables before the Christmas shutdown. Remember, the last day we can send anything out to the UK mainland in Monday, for delivery Tuesday!

The last lorry from the factory was an articulated lorry filled to the brim!

Airquee HQ is open until 4.30pm Tuesday 23rd, then we're all off for Christmas! The office re-opens at 8am on Monday 5th January but the workaholics in the company will still be checking their emails over the break.

Friday 5 December 2014

"Chaaaaange places!"

This week has marked a change. Rita, our lovely Receptionist and Repairs Admin, has now completed her training period and is in sole charge of the repairs and inspection admin! The hand over went very smoothly and the Repairs team is working efficiently as ever!

This means that Helen is back to full time Marketing and admin! And it's just as well - we have big things coming up in the New Year! Stay tuned for more information...

Friday 28 November 2014

We've got that Friday feeling!

We've had a WONDERFUL TIME at the Farm Innovations Show! Monty's been busy networking away, as has Kerry, Mark, Phil and Phil H! Thank you to everyone that came along to see us!

I think everyone will be having a well earned rest....after they've packed away and driven back from London...Monty's excused though - bad back.

Friday 21 November 2014

Ain't no rest for the wicked....

I don't even know where this week has gone. It went from a full office (Mark was relegated to the meeting room as there were no desks available!) to only 4 of us in the office today! Kerry, Carole, Phil H and Mark are working from home!

In the office, there's Harrison, our CAD Apprentice, having a party for one in the design office, Krzyzstof in the warehouse and Rita and I (Helen) manning the main office (although Carole is STILL the quickest to answer the phone! She would have been an amazing Wild West gunslinger...). As I said on Facebook earlier (if you haven't already, like us!), we have muffins to keep us going through today, while we're feeling deserted! Although, if we were really in the desert, I expect a scene like below would unfold. Harrison has moments of being accident prone. Bless him.
The First Aider is the least sympathetic employee.
So. I've been told this is the "quiet season" for the inflatable world - there is no evidence of that here at Airquee! Production is full to the brim and everyone's working harder than ever to make sure everyone gets their units before Christmas! The factory office is going non stop - so why I thought Viorel would have time to be dancing I don't know...

If you are looking to buy a bouncy castle before Christmas, do remember that we have a limited number of Monty and Mabel penguins to give away, so get your order in quick!

Friday 14 November 2014

It's beginning to look at lot like Christmas!

What an energetic week it has been in the office this week - with the Christmas Countdown underway it seems that Airquee don’t get any rest! Our Production Department is working to the limit so that we meet all the deadlines! Back at base at Bristol, the energy is still here as Kerry has been telling us all about her evening exercise classes with Shaun T of Insanity fame – the mind does boggle but at least it means we get the motivation by way of her excessively high spirits.  Carole is always beavering away quietly unless her pc starts playing up and she teaches us some new vocabulary from her native Highlands.

All hands were to the pump as we mailed our customers to advise them to get their orders confirmed before 4pm on Friday the 28th November 2014 as all offer prices will cease and we have had a huge response which is great to know the system works. What did we do before email?

Airquee have a surprise up our sleeve for the New Year which has meant Phil H has been working like a Special Agent away from the office. We will be fit to burst when the launch date does arrive, don’t ask because we can’t divulge just make sure you are at INPAS 2015 for the unveiling.

Work hard, party hard is our motto at this time of the year so Christmas party planning has been high on our agenda too - with such a marvellous team here at Airquee we have to spoil them!

I am sure you are all missing our animated characters however they take time and it appears that time is rather thin on the ground at Bristol however they will return, keep tuning in!

Friday 7 November 2014

Time flies when you're having fun!

It's November. There are 7 weekends between now and Christmas. Where did this year go??

As always, there's been a lot going on at Airquee HQ. We had our shows last month, which were so much fun, thank you to everyone that came! We've released a load of new and fun products, hopefully you've seen the videos we've posted! We've got our lovely receptionist Rita as well! We have had reindeers being born at the factory and a fantastic track for them to exercise on, ready for their night of glory!

Kerry has been on the road, visiting theme parks "oop North" - and she calls that work! Two days later she was down in Winchester installing a new pool inflatable and providing training - by the looks of the video the lifeguards were ecstatic with their delivery! Apparently the centre said some of the lifeguards had been unsure about having a pool inflatable – check out the video and tell me if you think they look unhappy?! I don’t think so either!

Mark has been globe-trotting across Europe attending various Open Days and will probably be glad to be on terra firma tomorrow!

The week has ended on a festive high with the John Lewis advert being launched and the Airquee Monty and Mabel offer!

We can't wait for the Christmas season to get into full swing now! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Q&A with Rita - Receptionist & Admin

Rita was born in the beautiful & historic city of Budapest, Hungary when big shoulder pads were still in fashion. She grew up in Hungary, but travelled a lot as a child to all corners of the world, meeting different cultures and people. Rita joined Airquee in September 2014.

When were you happiest?
Spending a month in India a few years ago - that country put a spell on me...magical!

What is your favourite food?
Being Hungarian I should say goulash soup, but it is not...Although it is lovely, I do recommend it to everyone! My favourite food is my mum's Casserole Mornay.

What is your greatest fear?
To lead a meaningless and selfish life.

Which person, living or dead, do you most admire, and why?
My dad - his emotional intelligence, positive approach and peaceful presence in all situations is a true example.

What is your favourite thing about Airquee?
The Airquee team - it's a very strong pillar, lots of discipline, good team spirit - and the products, because they make people laugh!

What is your least favourite thing about Airquee?

I haven't found one yet...

What is the worst habit you have at work?
I am a people person and like to engage into conversations with my colleagues. Sometimes too much. But I think I am improving!

What is your favourite Airquee product you’ve seen?
The Helter Skelter Slide!

What song would you make Airquee’s theme song?

Airquee's Land Drop Slide AQ4967 - now with added context!

We've added the measurements of this slide so you can really appreciate how impressive it is! Check out the new video!

Airquee Open Weekend - last day, last chance for deals!

What a fantastic Open Weekend Extravaganza we have had! A HUGE thank you to everyone who made the trip to Bristol.

The new inflatable game, our pedal powered La Tour Fatale Game has been so popular on Facebook over the last few days and I have to say it is the show favourite so far!
It means that all members of the team or players can take part and the arm on this one appears to whizz round much faster than the automated version, I had so much fun knocking all the guys in our team off their feet, even my boss!

Another clear favourite has been our fantastic Dancing Dome with internal slide – it has all of the fun of the original Dancing Disco Dome but with a slide…weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

We have had on display a very simple inflated Archery Game and that has been a hit with budding Robin Hoods and William Tell groupies! You can choose a backdrop and we can print that for you or send us your own artwork as Mr Peter Grand did for his new acquisition!

Of course we have had the bouncy castle range out too and customers are ASTOUNDED by the bounce they get from an Airquee Adult Bed – with a superb volume of air and big tubes everyone can bounce higher and higher knowing that with a sewn in roof, meshed in back window and step compliant to the EN14960:2013 Standard they are safe to do so!

Customers fell in love with our new Beach artwork depicting the epitome of  a good old Blighty Seaside Holiday, ice cream cones, striped deck chairs, donkeys and even an inflated Banana Boat Ride in the sea!

We have the brand new Safari Theme for a wild time!

We also launched a new version of Party Theme artwork in pink and blue and customers think this is great too!

Our awesome Dancing Fever artwork will make anyone want to shuffle their feet on the dance floor or bouncy bed!

The Bouncy Castle Network joined us for the Weekend and had many new customers sign up for websites so they are pleased which is always great, they will also be joining us at our Airquee Ireland Open Days at Northern Ireland this coming weekend. Visit their website to enquire about websites and more…They also do a lovely thermal mug for hot drinks if you ask nicely!

If you cannot make the last day of our show today then please call and place an order to receive a show price – Prices valid for orders placed up to 4pm TODAY Monday 13th October! Call the office on 01179 414 918 option 1, Kerry on 07990 766129 or email Sales@airquee.co.uk!

It's the FINAL COUNTDOWN....

We're so excited for the first day of our OPEN WEEKEND EXTRAVAGANZA tomorrow!

Many happy returns!

With the Show Season now fully in swing we would like to thank everyone who stopped by the Airquee Stand at EAS 2014 in Amsterdam! It was a HUGE success and once again Airquee had a booth that was jam-packed for the whole three days. We met some amazing new customers from all over the world - In fact, 2014 was the most attended EAS to date!

Today is the 26th September 2014 and exactly 44 years ago something very special happened…

Anyone would think it was an annual holiday at Airquee today as it is Kerry’s Birthday!! And she seems to have told anyone and everyone who has visited the office, called the office or sent in an email!  She's been so over excited and to be honest it is extremely endearing - so we want to make sure she has a FANTASTIC day! As usual the office is busy and bustling however once Kerry gets here the excitement levels are sure to reach breaking point! Anyone who knows Kerry or has dealt with her on the phone will know exactly what I mean. Personally, I am just really happy she remembered that it is the birthday person who brings in the cake!

Last night half the Airquee Team ventured out after work for a bite to eat and it was a good night – we sell fun products, therefore we owe it to our customers (and ourselves) to  ensure that FUN is part of everything we do! And - can you believe it - Lady McIvor (as she likes to be known) has already booked our office Christmas Party! There are only 89 days to Christmas Day - where has the year gone?! That might be why we're already getting enquiries for our winter and Christmas Grottos and other festive products and games! So don’t dilly dally, call 0117 9414 918 option 1 and get your orders in now so that you receive them in time.

We have a couple of new staff in the main office and they are both settling in well - more about them will follow later in the year!

Remember that you can see Airquee at the LIW next week at the NEC, and then at the Leisure Supplies Show and (most importantly) we are holding our Bristol weekend EXTRAVAGANZA on the 10th, 1th, 12th and 13th of October 2014.  We will be showcasing brand new products, new designs and new themes so make sure you come along!

Monday 15 September 2014

Tidy warehouse, tidy mind.

Our Repairs/Warehouse staff have got the day off from their usual roles - not for fun and frolic but in order to rearrange the warehouse!

In the last few years Airquee has grown and improved in so many ways but our warehouse has stayed the same - and gotten fuller and fuller. You know how it is, there's always something tucked away in a corner that you forget about, something else gets put in front and before you know it so much wasted space! But Airquee is reclaiming the space that could be used!

So the past few days Krzysztof and Jay have been moving and tidying, ready for today when they (with a couple of helping hands) have moved Krzysztof's giant repair table!

The move will free up some more shelves and leave us with more space for testing larger inflatables indoors! And as we're moving into autumn, indoor space will be more in need!

Otherwise the Airquee office is still preparing full steam ahead for all the industry shows coming up! Production are working on finishing off our brand new inflatables and designs, Sales are talking to all the leisure centres, hirers, and distributors, Marketing are getting all the leaflets and price lists ready and sending out email mailers.

Make sure you're on our mailing list for full details! You can subscribe from any page on our website, under the main menu: http://www.airquee.co.uk/

Friday 5 September 2014

On with the shows!

Now that the summer holidays are over the Airquee Team is looking forward to the next big events on the inflatable calendar* - the industry shows!

Although it means there's a lot to organise and prepare for each show, it's also so fun and exciting because it's a great opportunity to talk to and catch up with all of YOU! It's so important to us to keep in contact with our customers, we love to find out how you feel - about the industry, how your year is going, and any new ideas for an inflatable or feedback on our products.

We'll be sending out mailers and talking about the shows on our Twitter and Facebook, but just to say it AGAIN the details of the shows coming up in the next couple of months are:

Euro Attractions Show 2014 (EAS), Amsterdam, Netherlands 23rd - 25th Sept.

(*We don't actually have an inflatable calendar. That would be pretty cool though).

Monday 1 September 2014

Return of the blog!

Dear Airquee Blog followers!

Please accept our apologies for the lack of posts and updates on here and our social media - Helen, our resident blogger, took a holiday! Yes, yes, I know, a HOLIDAY, criminal isn’t it?! I had absolutely no idea how to update our fantastic blog nor am I aware of how to create the lifelike cartoons that Helen does either, therefore the blog has not been updated.

A lack of blog didn’t mean that the cogs of Airquee ground to a halt, oh no! We've all been beavering away, getting ready for the Show Season!

It kicks off at Amsterdam with the EAS – (click on this links for more details): http://www.airquee.co.uk/eas.html then onto LIW at the NEC: http://www.airquee.co.uk/liw.html and back on the road onto the Leisure Supplies Show http://www.airquee.co.uk/leisure-supplies-show-2014.html in readiness for the MAIN ANNUAL EVENT at our Bristol Show Room and Sales Office on the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th October http://www.airquee.co.uk/bristol-open-weekend.html and then across the water to Northern Ireland for this show on 18th and 19th October http://www.airquee.co.uk/northern-ireland-open-day.html

After a brief rest the Airquee team will be donning their wellies and heading to the Big Smoke in preparation for the Farmers Innovation Show at Olympia on 27th and 28th November http://www.airquee.co.uk/farm-show.html

We hope to see you at one of the events listed above however remember you only have to call 0117 9414 918 and select option 1 for sales or you can contact us via Facebook or Twitter.

Rest assured, Helen is now back and normal blog posts will be resuming from Thursday!

We've got that Friday feeling!

I think it's fair to say that Team Airquee has been working harder than ever this month - in the factory they are flat out getting everyone's units ready before their annual holiday.

Our factory closes in August for 3 weeks from the 15th August until 8th September, so if you have any last minute orders for one of our standard units you'd better get them in quick! Due to the time constraints bespoke units will have to wait until the factory have had their well deserved holiday!

Q&A with Phil H - Marketing Director

Phil Hartell, also known as Phil H, grew up in a small country town in Gloucestershire. He never really strayed to far, completing his marketing degree at the University of Gloucestershire. What song would you make Airquee’s theme song?

Q&A with Veronica - Technical Production Analyst

One of the office team based at the main factory, Veronica joined Team Airquee in May 2013. Don't let the job title fool you, she doesn't find her job at all boring. Veronica spends her time processing the more technical (complicated) orders, and helping with production planning.

Veronica spent the first few years of her life growing up in a small town and moved with her family to Saint George, where the Airquee factories are. But this is only the short version.

When were you happiest?
Basically every day! But you cannot know happiness without sadness and you cannot know sadness without happiness.

We're all going on a summer holiday...

Picture may not reflect reality.
Well we're not ALL going. Phil M (Company Director) and Krzysztof (Repairs Inspector) have gone on holiday. Probably with their respective families, not together, I just liked the idea of them playing on a beach.

Back in the reality of the office the main excitement of the week has been the NEW Airquee t-shirts and caps, as modelled by Kerry and Norman.

We're also getting on with the every day business of repairs, shipping, sales, enquiries AND preparing for the show season starting in September!

Q&A with Helen - Marketing Co-Ordinator

One of the quieter ones in the office, Helen enjoys working in the background. She helps with the marketing, updates the website, worries about admin and writes about herself in the third person on the blog.

Helen was born and grew up in a small market town in Hampshire. She moved to Bristol for university and began temping at Airquee. When she finished her degree, Airquee offered her a full time position, she accepted and that was the beginning of a beautiful business arrangement.

When were you happiest?
This year is going pretty well so far. I have a job I enjoy in a city that feels like home.

What is your favourite food?
Spaghetti Bolognese.

What is your greatest fear?
Zombies.

My granddad. Philosophical, inquisitive and positive about everything.

The products, lovely co-workers and a great office to work in.

What is your least favourite thing about Airquee?
All the time spent making tea and coffee. Although that's improved since we got the tea urn!

What is the worst habit you have at work?
Sarcastic responses to reasonable questions.
What is your favourite Airquee product you’ve seen?
I’m very fond of the inflatable promotional pig but the Pirate Obstacle Course makes me happy.

What song would you make Airquee’s theme song?
Rubber Ball by Bobby Vee

Wednesday 2 July 2014

2 for the price of 1!

Don't get excited, the title refers to blog entries.

As it was so busy Tuesday we didn't get the chance to put up our Q&A for Julie, so it's appeared today!

Peak season is still in full swing. We still have a lot of calls about hiring our inflatables, but as we've said many times (and clearly say on the website!) we can only hire to leisure centres. Our Bristol repairs department is fully booked and unavailable until the 21st July.

But in the middle of all the phone calls and emails and trying to catch up with everyone, we had a photo that made us all quite happy.

As you may have seen on our website, we're really proud of the monstrous Monkey Island inflatable that we made for Pizza.de. It's gigantic, it's impressive and it's a perfect example of the amazing products that Airquee is capable of creating. While this was in everyone's minds, Adrian, the General Manager at the factory, sent a photo over of one of the first units Airquee made.

Adorable as the pillar and beam is, put it next to the Monkey Island and it shows the contrast and how far Airquee as a company has come, and we are constantly improving and developing!

Right, that's enough boasting, back to work!

Q&A with Julie - Book-Keeper

Julie is Airquee's super efficient Book-keeper. So efficient she's only in the office once a week! She's the one that makes sure that we pay and we are paid for all the things going in and out of Airquee!

Mentally 21, Julie was born in Tavistock and brought up just outside Yate. She joined Airquee in December 2013. If you ask nicely she will update you on her new and adorable kittens!

When were you happiest?
Now. Always have been happiest in the moment, life’s too short not to be.

What is your favourite food?
Veg – especially sprouts and cabbage.

What is your greatest fear?
SPIDERS.

Which person, living or dead, do you most admire, and why?
My mum, she passed away 15 years ago (15 days after my step-dad) but always put everyone else first.

What is your favourite thing about Airquee?
Getting to play on the bouncy castles.

What is your least favourite thing about Airquee?
The office can get too loud!

What is the worst habit you have at work?
My mobile keeps barking at me!!! (Alarming ringtones).

What is your favourite Airquee product you’ve seen?
Haven’t seen many but the Pub on the website looks wicked.

What song would you make Airquee’s theme song?
Walking in the Air.

Growing pains

Everyone's been in the office this week, hard at work, beavering away on their projects and daily tasks.

As we've grown we've been assessing the different subcategories of the Airquee team and trying to make it easier for our customers to get what they need as quickly as possible. The aim for Airquee is to make things clearer, simpler and more efficient. This includes the website, our price lists, and our telephone systems. The website and price lists are being regularly updated and amended and our phone menu options will be changing in the near future! We're also dedicating a page on the site to the materials and colours we use, to make it easier for customers to see what all their options are!

We have a CAD apprentice joining our Design team next week, so we've been playing musical furniture in the office all day - the company server has been moved (if you tried to call us this morning and couldn't get through, that was the reason!) and now has pride of place in the the corner of the meeting room.

It's hard work getting new processes in place whilst still running a busy company but Airquee are confident we will succeed and grow bigger and better. Go hard or go home. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Harder, faster, better, stronger. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

I can't think of any other phrases but you get the idea. GO TEAM AIRQUEE!

Tuesday 24 June 2014

Q&A with Kerry - Sales Director

If you've dealt with Airquee for any length of time you MUST know about Kerry - energetic, enthusiastic and occasionally inappropriate - she and Carole in Sales do everything they can to make sure our customers get the best deals and exceptional service!

Kerry was born in Nottingham and has lived in Portsmouth, Portugal and Margate (she always loves being by the sea) before returning to Nottingham. She now splits her week between Nottingham and South Wales/Bristol.

When were you happiest?
Difficult one - probably my secondary school years and then when my children were born!
What is your favourite food?
Eggs and beetroot (not pickled).
What is your greatest fear?
Cancer.
Which person, living or dead, do you most admire, and why? Margaret Thatcher – because "the lady’s not for turning"!
What is your favourite thing about Airquee?
The Team, both UK and Romania, and the variety of my role - not to mention the fab customers I get to interact with on a daily basis.
What is your least favourite thing about Airquee?
The stress during the Peak Season!
What is the worst habit you have at work?
Not sending the 1000’s of emails I draft and some may say my singing in the office...
What is your favourite Airquee product you've seen?
It was the Big Red Balls but as I am fickle it is now the Dancing Disco Dome as I feel like I am 18 years old again when inside one of those!

In the summer time!

Ok, so the above picture might not be an accurate illustration of what's been happening in the Airquee office (although Jay has started wearing shorts, much to everyone's amusement). But it's what we would be doing if we weren't so busy making fantastic inflatables!

Kerry's had a Portsmouth themed week - a site visit to Hilsea Lido, to train them on using their inflatable. She had fun on site and a productive day, so the Lido will be getting the most out of their inflatable!

Then yesterday we had a visit at the office from another Pompey customer, collecting their brand new Boot Camp Base Jump and Last One Standing duel challenge games! They were really impressed and pleased with their units and had a go on them both. It was when we were packing them all away that we noticed the key in the control box was broken. It had snapped off so not only were we unable to turn the box on or off but they couldn't remove the key - meaning that they would need to be with the game at all times for safety reasons.

Now obviously this is far from ideal - a hirer wants to know that they can safely leave their control box switched off and take the key with them. So the Airquee team performed some amazing problem solving - Phil H, after a brief period of despair, managed to MacGyvor* the stuck half of the key out of the lock by dismantling the control box with a couple of paperclips (artistic license). Kerry then took both halves of the key to a local locksmith and voila! Working key, happy customers and a new part of the Airquee process - spare keys to be kept in the Bristol warehouse!

(*For younger readers, MacGyvor was an 80s tv show about a secret agent who could make the most extraordinary problem solving devices out of everyday items like paperclips or shoe laces. I used his name as a verb. I've never seen the show, but I hear it was good. Patty and Selma in The Simpsons liked it).

It's been a busy but dull day so far in the office. Here's hoping that tomorrow goes smoothly!
